Coron's classic southwestern design is shaped by a landscape of scarcity. The whitewashed wall, the terra cotta tile, the patina on an iron rail, finished by the elements rather than the hand. This is the story behind our art.
Abandoned mines & buildings are great places to get bit, shot & arrested. They're also great places to salvage beautiful old lumber. We first started building furniture from found wood because we were too poor to buy furniture. Scarcity drove creativity. We used the wood found both in our dilapidated neighborhood of slowly decaying victorians & in far-flung adventures in the Great Basin desert to refurbish & decorate our own historic home.
At Coron Studios, we let our materials illuminate the form, rather than have the form dictate the materials. Simple design is a statement of values.
